This is yet another move from McDonalds to realign themselves in the publics minds, as an environmentally friendly and ethically conscious company. They have also adopted a more open and honest attitude towards consumers in recent years, including making the nutritional values of their products visible which has also gone a long way to counter attacks from critics.
*Just to clarify I don't endorse McDonalds and I'm not personally a fan, but I have to admire their marketing and advertising strategies of late.
I like how McDonalds decided against showing simple scenic shots, and instead chose to add graphics into the advert - I love the contrast between the natural elements and the graphics! I still can't get used to the idea of McDonalds new branding, and I would love to know whether it's been successful.
ReplyDeleteyeah it definitely got my attention! I thought it was something to do with a weather report at first, it's quite surreal seeing them out of the news context. yeah I think at first people were very sceptical of their re-brand at first, but maybe its gradually taking effect on how the public view them...
ReplyDeleteThat's a good point actually! I didn't think it could be misleading at first.
ReplyDeleteThis is great, there is something so cute about it, getting us to react in a really positive way. I think it's almost like McDonalds is one of us as it has to put up with the British weather too. This is a good way to get us on its side - to make us think that McDonalds empathises. Made me feel warm inside.
ReplyDeleteyeah that's a really good point olive, there is definitely a sense of camaraderie!! made me a little bit warm inside too :)
